BARRIERS TO ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS: TOOLS

(Part 2 of a 4-part Series)

Four common barriers to attaining the lifestyle you desire are time, tools, training, and temperament. While there may be a host of reasons why you find yourself missing the mark when it comes to achieving your goals, I’m focusing on a few of the barriers. During this series, I identify four common barriers that are goal stealers and address ways to tackle them.  If you missed Part 1, where I  talked about the “time” barrier, I invite you to read it by visiting –  https://boostingwomensuccess.com/barriers-to-achieving-your-goals-time-management/.  Now, let’s move on to confront barrier number two – “tools”.

Whether you have feelings of uncertainty or you’re experiencing moments of doubt because your current situation or environment may include bursts of chaos, it’s still your responsibility to chart your future. In other words, it is your duty to choose appropriate tools to ensure your personal positive forward movement. Recognizing, it is fundamental to your success.

Challenges and barriers are a part of living and will remain in our life as either obstacles or opportunities.  You get to decide!  I want you to continue to lean in, not to quit and to go after what you really, really want for your future. Once you’ve defined where you want to go, you must identify the tools that you’ll need to help you get there.  We’re in a climate where tools are continually being improved and as they are improved, it’s up to you whether you embrace and utilize them or ignore them and refuse to engage, thereby stunting your growth and ultimately your future.  To discover which tools you need, I suggest you conduct a skills audit.   A skills audit is critical to access your current knowledge base and your gaps so you can pinpoint what specific development tools you need to fill them.  This will also position you to tackle specific short-term and long-term goals and objectives.

During the next few moments, I’ll share a few tools to help put you on the right path or at least point you in the right direction –  Investing in the right tools will move you to a place of power.  You are accountable for your skills acquisition and development.   As a leader, it is imperative that you know the skills needed to guide your team and as a business owner or entrepreneur, it’s critical that you are utilizing the tools needed to repeatedly scale growth.

Today, fortunately, you have a wealth of tools available to you, so it’s up to you to be aggressive about identifying and implementing them.  When researching which tools to use don’t limit your enhancement possibilities by only thinking of the workforce, but also include personal improvements as well as tools for your family, teams, civic and social communities, and networks.  You should embrace tools as a method to conduct an analysis to determine competencies needed, to evaluate and identify proficiency levels.  Finally, having a plan that includes the appropriate tools will help you to push beyond normal barriers and limitations.  Start today by not allowing tools to be a barrier to your success.
